Track Your Expenses

After qualifying for a loan, you will be asked to bring in a breakdown of the construction of your home.  My Building Partner will provide a breakdown which includes a detailed list of all of the trades needed to build your home; i.e. plumbing, electrical, roofing, etc.  Each trade will be allotted a certain amount of money based on the structure and design of your home.  Once the cost breakdown has been set, do your best to stay within the allotted budget.   

 Be careful when choosing companies to hire.  You probably wouldn’t spend $5 for a candy bar at one store when you could buy that same candy bar for $0.50 at another store.  The same goes with your home.  Since bids can vary as much as 30 percent, be sure to do your homework.  Don’t spend $20,000 for windows at one store when you could get the exact same windows at another store for $18,000.  If you were willing to drive to a different store to save $4.50 on a candy bar, then be sure to shop around to save $2,000 on something that really matters.
