Step 3- Choose a House Plan

Once your funding has been established and your lot has been secured, you can begin designing your new home. You can start the design process by looking at homes you already like. See if you can go inside these homes and take a look around. Discover the layout and design of the home. Where is the kitchen? Where are the bathrooms? How many bedrooms are there? Write down the features you like and incorporate them into your new home.

 

After you have discovered what you want, begin looking at house plans with similar features. Carefully consider your options and choose the plan that works best for you. Some of the places you can find house plans are local architects, plan books, magazines, and internet sites (including My Building Partner). If you can’t find what you like, consider hiring an architect or draftsman to draw a custom plan for you.
